We are happy to report that the doubles tournament held last night at Oscar’s Diner was a great success and featured a phenomenal finale with a rematch between two teams that had already played against each other in the semi-finals.
Afterl losing their first match of the night, Alex Flohr and Laurent Welter (Flying Finns) came back through the losers bracket to hand the team of Dave Henriques and Jo Debusscher (Game Over) their first loss of the night in the finals. Since the format of the event was a double-elimination tournament, the two teams, now each with one loss on their record, had to face off again to play another best-of-5 match to determine the actual tournament champion.
In a gripping deciding match, Alex and Laurent managed to best Dave and Jo once more to take home the well-deserved honors of tournament winner (and the prize money)!
So here are the final results of the evening:
- 1st place: Alex Flohr & Laurent Welter (Flying Finns)
- 2nd place: Dave Henriques & Jo Debusscher (Game Over)
- 3rd place: Heng Montin & Steve Sonntag (Brooklyn Zoo 3)
- 4th place: Joël Kieffer & Claude Müller (Dart Vaders)
